Bhimtal

Bhimtal is located at the distance of 11 Km. from Bhowali Retreat, Bhowali.Bhimtal is situated at an altitude of 1370 meters above sea level and is about 22 kilometers from Nainital. Bhimtal is a town named after Bhima of Mahabharata. Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple, an ancient Shiva temple situated in the bank of Bhimtal lake.
Bhimtal is older than Nainital as the city of Nainital and has been a stoppage for the travellers of the region from hills to plains or vice versa for a long time. Visitors come here to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva throughout the year.
However Nainital is district head quater but except district court all other govt offices including other reputed organizations such as Birla Institute of Technology, Graphic Era University, Lake International and wood bridge public school situated in Bhimtal, Its a beautiful town.

Naukuchiatal

Naukuchiatal situated at the distance of 14kms from Bhowali Retreat. Naukuchiatal or “lake of nine corners” is a small hill station in Nainital. The lake is 175 feet deep and is situated at 1,220 m above sea level. It is surrounded by hills covered in trees and shrubs.
Within the valley there are opportunities for angling and bird watching. The lake is fed by an underground perennial spring. Naukuchiatal is also known for the ‘escape festival’ which happens once every year (in the month of May).
It is believed that this lake was created after hard worship(Hindi “tap”) of Brahmaji and a small temple dedicated to Brahmaji exist near the KMVN guesthouse. According to locals anyone performing a parikarma of the lake will be blessed by Brahmaji.

Kainchi Dham

Kainchi Dham situated at the distance of 9kms from Bhowali Retreat. A famous Hanuman temple located in the womb of Kumaon mountains is the Kainchi Dham. The place offers a perfect combination of beauty and spirituality. Surrounded by mountains and forests with a river flowing alongside, Kainchi Dham is a heaven for people who seek peace and calm.
The temple was established by a local and very profound saint, Neem Karoli Baba in 1960s. It is also an ashram of Neem Karoli Baba who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Hanuman. Devotees claim to feel the divine presence of Lord Hanuman and Neem Karoli Baba at the ashram.
The Kainchi Dham got famous when in the year 1973, Steve Jobs, Ex-CEO of Apple Inc, visited the temple. Going through a stressful time in his career, Jobs came to India looking for a place where he could find answers to his questions and attain the ultimate truth of life, Nirvana, and Prajna. Jobs meditated at the ashram and went back enlightened. Later on, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, also visited the Kainchi Dham in search of peace and enlightenment.
Every year on Neem Karoli Baba's birthday, 15th of June, a fair is organized at the ashram which is highly visited by both locals and tourists. Located at a height of 1400 meters above sea level, this ashram on the Nainital-Almora road is picturesque and is among the most prominent pilgrimage sites in India. The ashram was initially built as a dedication to Sombari Maharaj and Sadhu Premi Baba who used to offer Yajnas at the place.
Ramgarh

Ramgarh, located at an altitude of 2,100 meters/ 7,000, feet approx is an idyllic hamletand distance 23 km that commands a majestic 180 degree view of the Himalayas. From Ramgarh, one can enjoy a panoramic view of many famous peaks including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Panchachuli, Pindari Glacier, Nandakot, Nandaghunti and Kamet.
The natural beauty of the surroundings has been a source of inspiration to great writers and artists including Rabindranath Tagore who wrote one of his most famous novel ‘Gitanjali’ from a hilltop of Ramgarh, where he lived for six years and planned to set-up Shantiniketan here.
Mukteshwar

Mukteshwar is just 35 km away from Bhowali Retreat, Bhowali. Mukteshwar gets its name from 350-year-old temple of Shiva, known as Mukteshwar Dham and a overhanging cliffs, locally known as Chauli-ki-Jali, used for rock climbing and rappelling, with an excellent view of the valleys below. One can also visit the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI).
